Current centralized social media platforms create several key challenges for users and creators.
These platforms often use user data for targeted advertising, undermining privacy. Their algorithms prioritize content that reinforces existing beliefs, creating filter bubbles and polarizing communities.
Monetization options for creators are limited as most platforms take a large share of revenue and control visibility through unpredictable algorithms.
Finally, users lack true ownership of their communities, as platforms maintain control over data, rules, and access, leaving little room for community-led governance.
These issues highlight the need for more transparent, user- controlled alternatives.

Ourglass is a decentralized social media platform where creators, leaders, and users have control over their content and communities.
It prioritizes privacy, fairness, and transparency, allowing users to earn from their contributions. The platform fosters meaningful connections without bias or echo chambers, ensuring a space for diverse voices to thrive globally.
Visual design
These screens were designed for the beta version of the platform, focusing on core features such as media creation, sharing, and consumption, messaging with friends, and profile management. Future versions are planned to expand functionality, introducing features like wallet design, content revenue generation, and more.

I had the pleasure of working on this project for Oiga Technologies alongside three talented designers. It was an incredible experience to contribute to the visual development of such a fascinating initiative. Although I am no longer with the company, Iām proud of the work we accomplished and excited to see how the project evolves in the future.
